It was great working with Jamie, Karen, Bruce and Anna on this ordeal. We had zeroed in on the dolphins location and once Bruce and Anna showed up in a smaller boat, we were able to kind of box him in and once he surfaced again, Bruce was able to hook the crab trap line and get ahold of it along with Anna, verify the issue and got the line cut immediately and allow flipper to swim away happily ever after. I think we were all very surprised when pulling the lines in afterwards that he had 3 crab pots all inner twined together and that answered the question to as why he could barely surface in the 9ft water. Just glad we were able to get the job at task completed with a great ending. ... See moreSee less
Let me tell y'all about Marc at Rock On Charters, Outer Banks, NC. Last week my friend Kim who runs Healing Hearts Respite Foundation said she had a boy fighting cancer visiting whose only wish was to go fishing. Kim was all set to take him to the local pier. Last Friday, on a whim, I reached out to Marc and connected him with Kim and TODAY they took Lewis out! It is amazing. This is exactly what #GiveBackforGrumps is all about.. the idea to help when you can, where you can! Marc - you've always been a stand up guy - Thank you!
If y'all ever find yourself in OBX to go charter fishing contact Marc!
Marc's post is below:
Had the pleasure to fish with Lewis today, unfortunately he lost his left arm due to Osteosarcoma back in April, but little man had the best attitude ever about it all, I didn't even realize till a few hours into the trip he still had a port in was still going thru week long chemo sessions and this was his only week to slip out and fish. I'm pretty sure he had a blast, as he had an adaptive fishing harness to help him reel in Speckled trout, Grey trout, Sea mullet, Croakers and a few Piggies along with his brother. Thank you @jamiehhinkle for reaching out to me and making this happen along with Healing Hearts Respite Foundation, kids like Lewis are truly an inspiration to all... ... See moreSee less
Had some good fishing this morning, a few really nice Speckled trout and lots of Stripers for the crew. The biggest storyline though, is Mr. Fred, 87 y/o and put the whooping on the rest of the crew, 3 generations, all fishing and catching together this morning, I absolutely love it, it doesn't get any better. Thanks a ton guys, see you later this summer.. ... See moreSee less
The past few weeks have been rainy and windy for us, dodging storms left and right. I hope that is all in the past and that Irma dissipates without making landfall, not sure that will happen though. The fishing has been good when it's good and really tough on other days. With all the storms and all the different winds we have been having, I don't think the fish have a clue as what to do. Whether the bite is good or not, every trip has been fun and filled with lots of smiles. Now that school had started for most kids, the reports will be fewer but I will still update as I go out. Thanks again to all that have fished with me this summer, can't wait to see you again next year. ... See moreSee less
Sorry for the lack of reports, I honestly didn't realize I was so far behind. We have had some great days and we have had some not so good days of fishing, but, they have all been a blast. We have had a little bit of everything lately, from sound fishing to fishing the wrecks and towers, all with success. I can't Thank all of you enough for spending a few hours of your vacations with me. Thanks and can't wait to see you next season or sooner.. ... See moreSee less
Took a trip down to Florida then the Keys this month to see my family and did a little fishing. The wind blew a lot, like here but we still managed a few good trips out of the deal. The trip down is always great because it gets me on the water and let's me find any trouble there may be with the boat. I threw in a few pics of the trip and can't wait to get this season rolling. Dates are starting to book up but there are still many left to be filled. Can't wait to see you guys ... See moreSee less

Have had some great trips lately with some awesome familes. I got a little behind on my reports, sorry about that. Overall we have had some great weather with the exception of a few windy days mixed in there here and there. The Kid Adventures have been so much fun, the kids never know what will come over the rail next and that really keeps them alert and wanting to catch more. Actually are seeing a huge variety of fish here lately as the fall weather is slowly creeping in on us. Thank you to everyone that has fished with us the past few weeks and I look forward to doing it again next season.. ... See moreSee less
Captain Mark nailed it!! We had a wonderful fishing charter. The boat was great. The equipment was perfect for the kids. Everyone had a blast. The kids are still talking about it nearly a week later. And they made us promise to go out with Captain Mark next year when we go back! Thanks for a great day!!
Sorry for the delay in reports guys, have had some Tech issues with the fb page.. Fishing has been great, Kids have been awesome and the parents and grandparents just as cool. We had some really hot weather come thru which really hurt the trout fishing but it's slowly on its way back.. The kids Fishing has been great with tons of bottom fish. We don't always catch the biggest but we defiently catch alot. As long as the rods are bent and the smiles are huge, we are having a good time. Thanks to everyone for coming out and hope to see you again next summer. ... See moreSee less
It has been another great week on the Outer Banks, a little warm but still awesome. The Kid Adventures have been a blast as the kiddos have been keeping me busy as they catch them 2 at a time. The Speckled trout bite has been on and off, been catching them everytime we go out for them but you just never know how many. One day we get 80 and the next 30, still a blast though. Thanks to all of you that have fished with us this week and again for all of you being so awesome... ... See moreSee less
We finally got our new shipment of rods and reels in for the Kid Adventures this year. One of my biggest pet peeves are all of the charters out there claiming to be Kid friendly but yet when the families show up they have no life jackets for the kids nor do they have the appropriate rod and reels for kids. If you're going to spend the money on a charter for your kids you want to make sure they can at least handle the gear. There is nothing worse than seeing a kid trying to reel a fish in on a rod that mom and dad have to hold or even reel for them. If you put them with the appropriate rod and reels they will be able to do everything themselves and get much more enjoyment out of it in the long run. I'm hoping this tidbit of information can help everyone out looking to take their families fishing in the future.. ... See moreSee less
Had a great crew out with me today, and we were welcomed with some beautiful weather. Had 3 little guys on the boat so we stuck to the bottom fishing today and had a blast. Hunter in the pic and the rest of the crew caught some really nice Sea mullet along with Spot, Croaker and a few Pins..Highlight of the day is Hunter telling me "It was the best day ever of his life", one of the best things I can ever hear the kids say while fishing with Rock On Charters.. Thanks guys for a great morning on the water.. ... See moreSee less

Just checking in with everyone and giving a little update of whats going on. So far we have been pretty lucky with the weather this winter, yes we have had some cold, cold days and little snow but its been nothing compared to the last few years. So far we have not endured the sound freezing over like it has in the past, that is a huge plus for us and the fishing. Towards the end of last season we had alot of baby Speckled trout in the sound along with a ton of small Stripers, with that being said and the sound not freezing over I am hoping for a really good Spring bite this year. It would be awesome if the Specks showed back up this season for us and you. I can't wait till the season gets kicked off and we get to awake to nice hot summer days again. Can't wait to see all of you guys again this season... ... See moreSee less
I would love to go back your direction and fish with you Captain Mark. That was a fun time, and the kids loved it. Not sure it will happen this year, but we'll look you up when we do return. Maybe we'll have to take a long weekend and come fish for a day. That fresh mullet was awesome. As far as people I've met, you're a ten in my book. Best of luck to you this season.
I want to thank everyone that fished with us this during the 2015 season. It's always exciting seeing the new faces along with all of you guys that come back every year and support us. It means more than you will ever know to be part of your family vacation. Being that a majority of my business is family oriented, seeing all the kids that get off the boat with the biggest smiles and begging to do it again that day or the next always makes my day. Now that the new season is here, it is time for me to start regrouping and getting everything ready for another great season. I've been spending endless amount of hours in the garage organizing tackle, cleaning, prepping and taking inventory for this year. Of course, all it does is make me want to get back on the water a lot sooner than the weather allows. I did get to spend a day at the Raleigh Saltwater and Boat expo with my daughter and it was a very good trip for us. I was able to make some great contacts for the future, dealing with manufacturers of the latest and greatest products that are up and coming. Those contacts vary from boat products to lures, as well as people that just do what they can to help you out. I had a blast but most importantly my daughter had a blast and didn't want to leave. I can't wait to get this season going now that the holidays have come and gone. I have already started booking a few trips for the summer, so if you have a certain day you want give us a call to make sure you get it.
